प्रमाण · What are mulank and bhagyank?

Anka Jyotish (Vedic numerology) reads two numbers from your birth date, always reduced to 1-9 — no Western "master numbers". The mulank (root number) is the digit sum of the day you were born: your innate temperament. The bhagyank (destiny number) is the digit sum of the full date: the direction life keeps asking of you. Each number is ruled by a graha — 1 Sūrya, 2 Candra, 3 Bṛhaspati, 4 Rāhu, 5 Budha, 6 Śukra, 7 Ketu, 8 Śani, 9 Maṅgala — and its character is that graha's character. The number-graha mapping is standard modern anka tradition (we say so honestly in the source); the graha doctrine itself is public in our knowledge base, cited to the classics.

Mulank (मूलांक, root number): the digit sum of the day of the month you were born, reduced to 1-9. Born on the 29th → 2+9 = 11 → 1+1 = 2. It describes your innate temperament — how you naturally move through the world.

Bhagyank (भाग्यांक, destiny number): the digit sum of your complete date of birth (day + month + year), reduced to 1-9. It describes the direction life keeps asking of you — the terrain of your path, as distinct from your temperament.
