AI Transparency
Noviluna (noviluna.app) Last updated: July 3, 2026 · Version: 0.1 (draft)
This page exists because we believe you have the right to know exactly what you are talking to — and because the European AI regulation (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, the "EU AI Act") requires us to tell you. We're glad it does: we would have done it anyway.
1. You are talking to an artificial intelligence
Your guide in Noviluna is an artificial intelligence. It is not a person, not a human tarot reader, and we will never pretend otherwise.
- We state this in the first message of every new conversation and in the app's information.
- Noviluna does not currently offer readings with human practitioners. If we ever do, both modes will be clearly differentiated and you will always know which one you are using.
2. How it works under the hood
No smoke — this is how a reading is generated:
- The astronomical calculations are not done by the AI. Planetary positions, houses, aspects, and transits are computed with Swiss Ephemeris, a deterministic astronomical ephemeris engine of recognized precision. The AI never "makes up" where a planet is.
- The doctrine comes from a curated knowledge base, not the model's imagination. The meanings of the 78 tarot arcana (by position and spread type) and the astrological doctrine (planets, houses, aspects, transits) live in a structured, versioned knowledge base built from canonical sources of the tradition (Waite, Pollack, and others). When the guide interprets, it cites and draws on that base.
- The AI writes and personalizes. A language model (from Anthropic's Claude family) takes your astral data, the relevant doctrine, and your conversation context, and writes a personalized answer in your language, with memory of your previous conversations.
- Your conversations train no model. See the Privacy Policy.
- Quality under watch: every meaningful change to the system is evaluated against a set of validated reference readings before reaching production — including crisis cases (see section 4).
3. Its limits, plainly stated
- It does not predict the future. In Noviluna, astrology and tarot are symbolic languages for reflection and entertainment — not instruments for predicting events. No reading will (or should) tell you that something is going to happen.
- It does not give professional advice. The guide operates under strict instructions not to give medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice, and never to make predictions about health, pregnancy, death, or investments. If you ask, it will say so and, where appropriate, suggest you speak with qualified professionals.
- It can be wrong. Like all generative AI, it may produce inaccurate or unfortunate interpretations despite the knowledge base and the evaluations. Treat it as what it is: a companion for thinking, not an authority.
- It does not truly know you. It remembers what you have told it and your chart, but it has no access to your real life and perceives nothing on its own.
4. If you are going through a hard time
This is the most important limit and we treat it with maximum seriousness. If, in a conversation, you express serious distress, thoughts of harming yourself, or a mental health crisis, the guide is instructed to stop reading cards: it will step out of the mystical frame, respond with empathy and clarity, and direct you to real professional help. This behavior is part of our mandatory testing before every system change.
